And The Winners Are: Congratulations to all the EGC participants in the New England Spring Flower Show! They all took top honors in their categories. The East Bay Window project, chaired by Joyce Holster, won a blue ribbon. A "Miniature Landscape of Switzerland," done in mosses by Gloria Freitas, took a gold medal for design. Kay Ryan received a blue ribbon in the Amateur Horticulture Division for a beautiful begonia plant. She was also given the Thompson Award for Best Begonia.

Flower Show Plants: Some of the fabulous begonias purchased by the club, and nurtured by many members, that were used in the East Bay Window will be for sale at the April meeting. They will be available for viewing at 7:00pm and will be reserved on a first come-first served basis. Make payments for the plants following the meeting to Joyce Holster. They will be sold for their original purchase price. Joyce will also have for sale a few garden gadgets for $10.00.

Members Only: Please make a note of the "guest policy" from the club’s bylaws. Members may bring guests to meetings, however the same guest may only attend one meeting per year. In addition, please refrain from bringing guests to "workshop" meetings, as these meetings are for members only.

Please see Mary Beth at the next meeting or forward a check to her by mail. Dues are still only $15.00 for active members and $35.00 for associate membership.

The executive board of the EGC meets on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month. Current positions available: Workshops Chairperson for 2000/2001; Hospitality to be filled immediately. If you would like a more active roll in the club, and would like to join the board please speak to Kay Fulcher soon.

Board Members: All board members please remember to bring you EGC 1999/2000 books to the April board meeting as the telephone tree needs updating.

New Members: The New Member Tea held a the home of Rosemary Sinesi last month was a delightful afternoon. The board welcomed nine of the nineteen new members from the past year. The Plant Sale is Saturday, May 13 in front of the Carriage House at the Sheep Pasture. We need helpers from 8:00 am until we close at 12:00 pm. This is a new time from the past because I've noticed that we have a big rush from 9 till 11 then it seems very quiet. The Garden Club is running the sale alone as the NRT is not interested in participating in this event anymore. We will be selling the annuals and hanging baskets, as well as our garden dug perennials. I am looking for anybody with a pond to share a piece of her water plants with us. Also, I hope every member will dig perennials out of their gardens for the sale. Anything such as ground covers, lilac shoots, vines, common and unusual perennials will be gladly accepted. If you don't have much of a garden, I would like you to sign up to help dig in other member’s gardens. Kay Ryan needs much help in her garden as she is making several changes in her yard and will give us some plants that we dig.    If you need pots, contact Kay Ryan or myself as we both have plenty.  I am going to sell our collection of vases. Some will be filled with whatever we have flowering from our yards, and some will be sold empty.  You can dig your plants anytime now as long as they are coming up. I would like you to hold on to them until the day before the sale (Friday, May 12) and bring them directly to the Sheep Pasture. I need helpers that day from 2:30 pm until about 5:00 pm to collect the plants, make sure they are labeled, categorize them, and be sure they are priced. I also need many helpers on Saturday. A sign-up sheet will be at the April meeting, or please give me a call if you can’t make it to the meeting to let me know when you can help.

Nancy
