Plant Sale: The annual Spring Plant Sale at the NRT Sheep Pasture will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2001 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Volunteers are needed to help that day from 8:00am until we close at 12:00pm. You don't need any gardening experience to help, as we need cashiers and helpers too. We will also need help on Friday the 11th from about 3:00pm to 6:00pm to collect the plants our members drop off, make sure they are labeled, categorize them, and be sure they are priced.

We will be selling annuals, hanging baskets, some purchased perennials, and our garden-dug perennials. We need every member to dig perennials out of their gardens for the sale. Anything such as ground covers, lilac shoots, vines, hens and chicks, common and unusual perennials will be gladly accepted. If you know someone who has a garden willing to share some plants, but cannot dig, please call Nancy Cohenno and she'll set up a "digging party." (If you can help out by being one of the "diggers," give her a call as well.) There are empty pots in the carport behind Nancy's garage if anybody needs them. You can dig your plants anytime now, as long as they are coming up. Please hold on to them until the day before the sale (Friday, May 11th) and bring them directly to Sheep Pasture. If you must drop them off sooner, you can bring them to Nancy's house at anytime. Please label them. Sometimes, though not often, even we can't identify a plant, so even a common name is helpful. There are markers near the pots in the carport as well.

Any members who have garden (or little red) wagons please bring them for use on the sale day, Saturday. Please be sure to put your name somewhere on it so we can return it to the rightful owner.

House Tour: The Garden Club is planning a spectacular house tour this year. The homes have been chosen for "Celebrate Christmas 2001." This will be a major fundraiser for the club, and all members will be needed to assure a successful effort. It is also a wonderful time to learn and share ideas. If you have not signed up to work on a house yet, the sign-up sheets will be at the May and June meetings.

Window Boxes: There are still a few un-assigned window boxes that will need to be decorated along Main Street. If you would like to help plant the window boxes (either to be judged or not), please see Darya Cotter at the May meeting for details.

Garden Walks: There are two fun and interesting garden walks coming up. Friday, May 18th join us for a jaunt through the wildflowers at "Garden in the Woods" in Framingham. We will meet at 8:30am at the Honey Dew Doughnut Shop on Rt.106 near Rt.24 in West Bridgewater. We plan to stop for lunch along the way. Please call Joyce Holster to sign-up.
On Friday, June 1st we will investigate the "Secret Gardens" of Newport, a walking garden tour. Please meet at the same Honey Dew Doughnut Shop at 11:00am. Tickets for the tour are $20. Please bring along a lunch.

Dues: Membership dues for 2001/2002 are due by May 30th. Please remit a check made payable to the Easton Garden Club to Membership Chairperson Mary Beth Meyer. The annual dues are: $15 for Active Members, $35 for Associate Members (only after five active years), and no payment is due for Senior Members (65 years or older who have been active members for at least ten years). If you do not plan to continue in the club, please let Mary Beth know in writing.
