| The NRT Harvest Fair will be held on
Sunday, October 4, 2009 (rain or shine). The gates open at 10:00 AM and the fair
ends at 5:00 PM. Come see us at the Easton Garden Club Booth just past the old
foundation as you come though the Main Street entrance to the Sheep Pasture. The Natural Resources Trust of Easton holds a "Harvest Fair" in late September or early October annually. It draws thousands of people from around New England who come to shop the many juried craft booths. The N.R.T. also invites non-profit organizations in Easton to be a part of the day with educational information. The Easton Garden Club's civic role in the Harvest Fair is one of education. We provide informational handouts with topics such as composting, attracting butterflies to your garden, and tips on native plants and trees. There are many club members, knowledgeable about gardening, at our booth available to answer questions from the public throughout the day. This fair is also a major fund-raiser for the Club. We harvest flowers from our gardens and native flowers, grasses, and vines growing along the roadsides. We start in the late spring and continue through the fall. The flowers are dried and stored until the week before the fair when many of the club members gather together to make wreaths, dried arrangements, and bouquets of flowers to sell at our booth. Fair day we have ongoing demonstrations on subjects such as grapevine wreath making and flower arranging. This is fun day for all club members. Visit the N.R.T. Home Page for more information on N.R.T. activities. Questions about Easton Garden Club
