Meetings, Events, and Workshops

At each monthly meeting we feature interesting guest speakers, special programs given by members, and a variety of fun, hands-on workshops. All members are encouraged to attend.  

Anyone interested in learning what we are all about and possibly joining the club is welcome to come to one regular meeting not only to hear guest speakers but also to chat with members, have refreshments, hear club business, and possibly go home with a plant or floral arrangement!

Spring Plant Sale

Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Yardley-Wood rink, (Center School) Depot Street, N. Easton, from 9am - 12pm.

A wonderful selection of annual and perennial plants and shrubs ready for your garden. As always, we will have perennials grown in club members’ gardens. Member grown annuals, and a wide selection of vegetables and herbs grown from seed by our members. In addition, as this is Mother’s Day weekend, we will have beautiful hand made wreaths, gifts for Mom, and maybe a surprise or two!

NEW this year: At 10am an experienced club member will demonstrate how to plant and maintain an outdoor planter that will shine well into the summer month. You will also be able to purchase some gorgeous planters at very reasonable prices.

There will be a garden themed White Elephant table, where you might be able to pick up a treasure or two.

Spring Workshop

A hands-on workshop with two parts to the meeting:

1. Planting seeds

2. Planting a Spring arrangement

All the containers, potting mix, and plants/seeds will be supplied by the club. Bring your own gloves, scissors, trowel, and ornamentation, etc. You are welcome to bring a guest if you wish. Guest charge is $10.

Program: Neal Sanders - “Gardening Will Kill You” — Neal’s second installment of hilarious stories drawn from his escapades as the “Principal Undergardener.” He is the author of 14 mystery novels, most of which use garden club settings or horticultural plots. A not to be missed laugh fest. ***Please note - we will be meeting in-person! Find us at Frothingham Hall/Easton Council on Aging at 15 Barrows Street, North Easton. Monthly Meeting

Program: "Attracting Birds, Butterflies, Bees and Other Beneficials" is a presentation that describes the essential roles played by pollinators and other beneficial organisms in our ecosystem and provides guidance on meeting their needs for food, cover, and water. A variety of plants that can nourish these organisms throughout their active lifetimes are discussed, and organic methods for establishing pollinator gardens are also presented by naturalist John Root.

Cosponsored by the Ames Free Library and cohosted by the Easton Garden Club.

This program is supported in part by the Easton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Program: “Herbs for All Seasons” – Nationally recognized designer and presenter of green workshops Paul Split has lectured to numerous garden clubs since 1971. During this culinary delight we will explore the simple techniques of growing and using Herbs. Learn the best Herbs for your zone, when and how to harvest each and use them in the kitchen. He will then demonstrate making herb vinegar and herb butter.

EGC Annual Greens and Wreath Sale

The EGC Annual Holiday Greens and Wreath Sale is held annually on the first Saturday in December at the Easton Historical Society and Museum. Shoppers can find holiday arrangements, wreaths, and garlands made by the members from fresh plant materials -- everything needed for holiday decorating!
